12/11, Class 13 - Critiques and Lightroom

Today we did our last critique before final projects are due next week and went over the Develop module in Lightroom.

Reminder: In addition to bringing your completed book to class next week you are also responsible for taking at least 5 documentation images of your book AND a submission of ALL digital files from all assignments for the entire class (see below for details.)


THE DIGITAL FILES ARE DUE SUNDAY NIGHT, 12/17 BY 11:59PM. SUBMITTING DIGITAL FILES LATE WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF 5 POINTS TO FINAL PROJECT GRADE. 












SUBMISSION OF DIGITAL FILES


Acceptable image formats:

JPG     TIF / TIFF   RAW (proprietary to your camera manufacturer, .CR2, .NEF etc.)

Acceptable means of digital transfer:

Please use Google Drive - share the folder with and send a link to your professor.

(If you are having problems with google drive, you may use WeTransfer or similar services but this is pending approval and receipt confirmation from your professor)

Files should be contained within one folder named as follows: 

FOLDER NAME: Firstname_Lastname-MMC-2017-Fall-Digital-Photography

The master folder should contain subfolders named with the following format:
  • Early Assignments (each folder contains all images from corresponding assignment)
    • Bracketing and ISO 
    • Shutter Speed and Motion
    • Depth of Field
    • Lighting
    • Composition
    • Color
  • Oral Presentation (one folder containing the below files)
    • Slideshow (.ppt, .pptx, .pdf or google slideshow)
    • Handout (.pdf, .doc, .docx or google document)
  • Final Project 
    • Digital files of all images from all the 20 images/week assignments (no further subfolders)
    • At least 5 documentation images of the physical book (Examples
      • At least 1 photo showing the overall look and construction of book 
      • At least 2 photos of front and back covers (if applicable)
      • At least 2 photos of pages inside
    • At least 1 photo showing the overall look and construction of book 
    • At least 2 photos of front and back covers (if applicable)
    • At least 2 photos of pages inside
You do not need to include images from your categories assignment or writing from your reading assessments.

Additional reminder: several of you have outstanding blog assignments. If you have any incomplete assignments or assignments up for redo please submit them to me by Sunday night at 11:59pm or they will be counted as zeros toward your blog grade for final grading. All missing assignments were outlined on your midterm grade reports.

12/4, Class 12 - Critique and Intro to Lightroom

This week we looked at new work and discussed book format and construction for final projects. 



We also had an intro to the Lightroom catalog and Library Module. 


HOMEWORK / FOR NEXT TIME (12/11)

  • 20 new prints for your final project due in class. You can bring fewer than 20 photos if you bring in some other version of significant progress on your book which could be:
    • Physical construction of book or steps toward construction
    • Prototype of construction of book
    • Edits/groupings/selections from previous work that will go into the book
  • NOTE: if you have a new idea for the book that is not based on any work we have seen already in class you definitely need 20+ new photos
  • PLUS six images selected for final book due as blog post. Post to your blog:
    • 6 images that you have selected to include in your book
NOTE: Next week is the last week before the final project is due so it is also the last week to get feedback from your professor and peers before the final so please use that time wisely!
